When Simon woke up, his hospital room was dark and smelled bad…
Simon felt sympathy for the hospital. When he first arrived for his tests, he was scared. Was there something wrong with his body? Worse yet, was there something wrong with his…mind?
The doctors ran all the usual tests, but then when no cause was discovered, they put him through a battery of the most convoluted and complicated tests Simon had ever heard of — and some he hadn’t imagined.
Days of agonizing waiting followed, until finally, finally the doctors had it figured out. The cause was in his nasal passages, and the cure was a relatively simple procedure. When they were done, Simon took in a deep breath and satisfyingly told the doctors:
“Yes, yes doctors, I can detect scents again! Thank you for your diligence!”
And now the hospital was experiencing the same symptoms Simon had, the inability to detect scents. To not be good at smelling. To smell bad.
Poor hospital.
